Becoming a balloon instructor is a major, but very natural step in the career of experienced Balloon Pilot Licence holder. Given the current EASA regulatory framework, to become a balloon flight instructor is easier than ever. It is more the competency-based training other then the skill-based training. The EASA also gives the flight instructors qualified for balloon category much more power compared to the instructors in aeroplanes or helicopter. The scope of the balloon training which can be provided by the Balloon Flight Instructor outside of the flight school is much wider compared to the aeroplanes or helicopter. Unlike from aeroplanes or helicopter, the FI(B) is the only instructor certificate for all balloons. So provided you are flying and gaining an experience, it is relatively easy to extend the privileges of your balloon instructor certificate further.
