Flight Instructor Renewal training

Renewal of your FI(A) certificate ✓

Your Flight Instructor certificate is valid for 3 years. If you have not revalidated your FI(A) on time, you have to undertake the FI(A) refresher training and subsequent assessment of competence. To bring back the FI privileges, you have to attend the training with ProfiPilot Training. The refresher training provided by ProfiPilot Training carefully considers your experience and provides you with industry top-training. 

We will also consider your previous and required FI(A) privileges such as IRI, multi-engine, VFR Night, aerobatics, aero tow and more.

Overview

FI renewal overview

To renew an expired FI(A) certificate you have to meet the requirements of FCL.940.FI. Within a period of 12 months you have to complete the renewal procedure which includes the instructor refresher training as an FI(A) at ProfiPilot Training.

The FI Refresher is tailored made to you. It can be as short as FI refresh seminar, however it also might be longer depending on your overall and instructional experience. The FI refresher training is followed by the FI AoC with EASA FIE(A).

Refresher

The amount of refresher training needed to meet the FI competence standards will be determined on a case by case basis by ProfiPilot Training, taking into account the following factors:

  • your experience;
  • the amount of time elapsed since the expiry of your FI certificate; and
  • the technical elements of the FI training course, as determined by the assessment.

Once we have determined the your needs, we will develop an individual training programme. The refresher training is usually based on the basic FI training course and focuses on the aspects where the you have shown the greatest needs. If the scope of your FI(A) privileges covers also other privileges, it may also include elements such as IRI or multi-engine training syllabus.

Theory

The FI Refresher training needs to be tailored-made considering your previous experience. In most cases the groundschool part of the FI Refresher consists of brush-up of your technical training skills combined with delivering some theoretical knowledge lessons towards the training you are qualified for as an instructor. This is usually done as briefing or de-briefing of ProfiPilot Training trainees. There is very simple objective behind. We want you to brush-up your instructor competences and to pass the assessment of competence.

We may also come to the conclusion that is is sufficient to complete the refresher seminar to refresh your instructor competences.

Training

The FI refresher training has to be adjusted to meet the learning objectives and re-gain the instructor competency standards. When prescribing the flight training we are always considering the complexity of an aircraft, your FI(A) privileges and your overall as well as instructional experience. All FI Refresher training is simply tailored to your needs.

Completion

After successful completion of the FI refresher training ProfiPilot Training will issue the training completion certificate which describes the evaluation of your experience and the refresher training you have received, as well as a statement that the training was successfully completed. The document serves as the recommendation for the FI AoC with EASA FIE(A).
