The Private Pilot Licence corse is the very first step to become a real pilot. This training is usually taken by leisure pilots wishing to fly for their own. So if you are a frequently flying business man or simply you want to fly for your own, the PPL(A) course is just for you. 

PPL(A) is also an entry course on the modular Frozen ATPL training path. So it is a must for future airline pilots and professional pilots who have decided to proceed towards Frozen ATPL.

Overview

PPL(A) training overview

The Private Pilot License training course comprises of theoretical knowledge and 45 hours of flight instruction. Along with the PPL(A) - related training you will also fulfill the requirements for the issue of SEP(land) class rating.

The training consists of:

  • 15 hours of flight training
  • 6 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 3 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross-country flight of at least 150 km (80 NM), during which 1 full stop landing at an aerodrome different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made

The actual order and content will depend upon the following interrelated factors:

  • your progress and ability;
  • the weather conditions affecting the flight;
  • the flight time available;
  • instructional technique considerations;
  • the local operating environment;
  • applicability of the exercises to the aeroplane or TMG type.

The PPL(A) training is followed by the PPL(A) Skill test with EASA Fllight Examiner.  The validity of the PPL(A) is unlimited and stays valid as long as you keep valid your Medical certificate and SEP(land) class rating

Prerequisites

There are no specific requirements to be enrolled into the PPL(A) training course. Nevertheless, there are some limitations to keep in mind:

  • latest before your first solo flight you will have to obtain Medical certificate 
  • to fly solo flights you have to be at least 16 years old, however until your 16th birthday you can easily fly dual flight with your instructor
  • to apply for the PPL(A) issue you have to be at least 17 years old

Theory

The PPL(A) groundschool covers aspects related to non-technical skills in an integrated manner, taking into account the particular risks associated with the PPL(A) licence and the activity. During the training ProfiPilot Training will be checking if all the appropriate elements of the training course of theoretical knowledge instruction have been completed to a satisfactory standard. The PPL(A) ground school instruction consists of either classroom or by the distance-learning means covering following:

  • common subjects:
    • Air law,
    • Human performance,
    • Meteorology,
    • Communications, and
    • Navigation.
  • specific subjects related to the Aeroplane operation:
    • Principles of flight,
    • Operational procedures,
    • Flight performance and planning
    • Aircraft general knowledge.

Flying

During the PPL(A) flight training you will complete at least 45 hours of flight instruction in SEP Land or TMG, 5 of which may have been completed in an simulator. The training consists of:

  • 25 hours of dual flight instruction with an instructor; and
  • 10 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 5 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least 1 cross-country flight of at least 270 km (150 NM), during which full stop landings at 2 aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.

Completion

The PPL(A) course is completed by written theoretical knowledge exam at authority.

In addition you have to pass a PPL(A) Skill test with EASA FE(A). The PPL(A) skill test also covers the requirements for initial issue of your SEP(land) class rating. So you will become certified to fly a single-engine aeroplanes right after you successfull checkride.

AIRBUS A320 TYPE RATING program structure The course consists of Airbus A320 Type Rating (theory and full flight simulator training), followed by Base Training and an optional job interview preparation course.
