Overview

TRI(A) renewal overview

To renew an expired TRI(A) certificate you have to meet the requirements of FCL.940.TRI. Within a period of 12 months you have to complete the renewal procedure which includes the instructor refresher training provided by ProfiPilot Training. The TRI(A) Refresher is tailored made to you. The refresher renewal training is focused on the type you would like to instructor as TRI. The renewal refresher training can be as short as the theoretical TRI refresher, however it also might be longer and cover the operational type-related items depending on your overall and instructional experience.

To renew the validity of TRI certificate, you are required, in last 12 months to complete at least:

•  at least 30 route sectors, including take-offs and landings on the applicable aeroplane type. 15 out of 30 sectors can be completed in an FFS for example as a part of your recurrent training
• TRI renewal refresher training as a TRI at an ATO which shall cover the relevant elements of the TRI training course;

Upon completion of the TRI refresher training, you will be required to attend the assessment of competence in accordance with point FCL.935 with EASA Type Rating Examiner.

 The TRI refresher training is followed by the TRI Assessment of competence with EASA TRE in the simulator representing the particular type of aeroplane..

Theory

The TRI Refresher training needs to be tailored-made considering your previous experience. In most cases the groundschool part of the TRI Refresher consists of brush-up of your type-related as well as general technical training skills combined with delivering some theoretical knowledge lessons towards the type of aircraft you are qualified for as an instructor. This is usually done as briefing or de-briefing of ProfiPilot Training trainees. There is very simple objective behind. We want you to brush-up your instructor competences and to pass the assessment of competence. There might have been major changes in the regulatory background such as LDTA, instrument approach categorization, alternate aerodrome planning and so on. So we want to be sure you are delivering the training up to the current and highest industry standards.

We may however also come to the conclusion that is is sufficient to complete the refresher seminar to refresh your instructor competences.

Completion

After successful completion of the TRI refresher training ProfiPilot Training will issue the training Course completion certificate which describes the evaluation of your experience and the refresher training you have received, as well as a statement that the training was successfully completed. The document serves as the recommendation for the TRI AoC with EASA TRE in the simulator representing the particular type of aircraft.
