Overview

FI(A) rating extension overview

The aim of the FI(A) extension is to bring your level of competence as well as to assess your competence to provide an instruction towards the specific ratings. Those specific ratings are VFR Night training privileges and instructor privileges to Aerobatic and Aerotowing.

The training course consists of the flight with Senior Instructor which serves also as an assessment of competence. Although there is no need to attend an assessment of competence with EASA FIE(A).

Aerotow

To extend your FI(A) privileges to provide the instruction towards glider towing or banner towing you have to to be a holder of flight crew license with valid medical certificate and qualified with instructional privileges on respective class rating (usually SEP Land with respective differences training).  In addition you have to be holder of the respective Aerotow rating and privileges for towing gliders or banners.

Once you meet all of above you have to demonstrate your competence and ability to instruct for the aero towing rating. ProfiPilot Training Senior instructor will fly a flight review with you focused on assessment of your instructional skills towards aero towing rating.

Completion

The training course is actually the assessment of your instructional competence. Eventhough the check ride is not done by an EASA FIE(A) examiner the nature of the flight is kind of assessment of competence done by a Senior Instructor of ProfiPilot Academy qualified to provide FI(A) trainings.

Once the flight review is completed, necessary paperwork will be submitted to your issuing authority. New privileges will be endorsed into your flight crew license.
