Initial type rating in real aircraft

Get rated in your own Citation ✔️

The Cessna 525 production line is very complex and diverse. It consists of the straight CJ all the way up to the very modern CJ4 with advanced automatization and EFIS with CAS messages. The simulators are not available for some of the Cessna 525 variants. Therefore the training in the real aircraft is sumplemented with a minor use of the simulator to provide you with the best training experience with your cockpit layout.

Our instructors have the unrestricted TRI for the in-flight training in Cessna 525.

Overview

Cessna 525 Typerating in real aircraft

The aim of the Cessna 525 single-pilot initial type rating training course is to provide you with sufficient theoretical knowledge instruction, FSTD and also actual training in the aircraft to safely operate the C525 variant. The essence of this type rating training course is the in-flight training which is partially complemented with the training in simulator.

This training is usually completed for the aircraft owners who would like to get the type rating training directly in their own Cessna 525 aircraft. Training is also completed for the operators operating some C525 variants for which the simulator is not available nor accessible.

The C525 in-flight Type Rating course consists of following parts:

  • 26:30 hours of C525 type-related ground school
  • 02:30 hours of UPRT ground school
  • 12:00 hours of training in the aircraft
  • 04:00 hours simulator training

The C525 Singlei-pilot in-flight type rating is followed by C525 SPO skill test with an EASA C525 TRE completed in the real aircraft or in the simulator representing the Cessna 525 variant. There is no base training required, upon successfully passed skill test.

Theory

C525 theoretical knowledge instruction or so-called Cessna Citation ground school is split into days distributed around the typerating course. On the top of the Cessna 525 ground school, we will add the single-pilot CRM and basic single-pilot operations principles theoretical knowledge instruction lasting approximately 2 hours.

The content of typerating training course consists of type-related profile subjects and lasts approximately 26:30 hours. Ground school is delivered by distance-learning means complemented by instructor-led classroom sessions. The ground school is completed by written test comprises of 100 multiple choice questions from following type-related subjects:

  • General description, limitations and differences
  • Engine, Aircraft systems and Flight instruments, FMS
  • Cockpit, cabin and cargo, Load and balance
  • Emergency equipment and procedures

In addition to the Cessna Citation type related topics, you will receive also the UPRT groundschool lasting approximately 8 hours comprises of following:

  • Aerodynamics, Causes of and contributing factors to upsets
  • Safety review of UPRT accidents, G-load awareness and management
  • Energy management, Flight path management
  • Recognition, System malfunction, High altitude UPRT

Aircraft

The main part of the typerating training is completed in the real aircraft representing the Cessna 525 variant. Instructor ocuppies the right-hand seat, while the trainee occupies the left-hand seat. During the aircraft part of the C525 training, all of the normal and selected abnormal situations are introduced and throughly trained.

This mainly includes the:

  • normal landings and landings with reduced flight controls
  • R-TO and engine failure after V2
  • engine failure during go-around
  • normal and OEI instrument approaches
  • simulated selected abnormal situations

Simulator

The in-flight Cessna 525 typerating training syllabi considers the simulator is unavailable or unaccessible. The training program assumes the maximum possible use of the aircraft with only the necessary training in the simulator. The simulator part of the typerating training is mainly focused on the event-based skills rather then the scenario-based training.

The events trained in the simulator under the single-pilot operations are mainly:

  • TCAS RA
  • Hi and Low altitude UPRT
  • Emergency descend
  • Engine failure after V1 and before V2
  • Windshear encounter event
  • Ground proximity event
  • flight control problems
  • simulation of fire and smoke

The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.

Flying the single-pilot jet aircraft might not be easy. But it is definitely a huge opportunity which will advance your skills beyond your expectations. Learn to fly Cessna 525 single pilot with the industry leaders.
