SFI(A) renewal overview

To renew an expired SFI certificate you have to meet the requirements of FCL.940.SFI. Within a period of 12 months you have to complete the instructor refresher/renewal training provided by ProfiPilot Training. The SFI(A) Refresher is tailored made to you and your experience. The SFI refresher renewal training is focused on the type for which you wish to renew your SFI. The SFI renewal refresher training can be as short as the theoretical SFI refresher, however it also might be longer and cover the operational type-related items depending on your overall and instructional experience.

To renew the validity of SFI certificate, you are required, in last 12 months to complete at least:

• skill test for the issue of Boeing 737 300 - 900 typarating
• SFI renewal refresher training as a SFI at an ProfiPilot Training which shall cover the relevant elements of the SFI B737 training course;

Upon completion of the SFI refresher training, you will be required to attend the assessment of competence in accordance with point FCL.935 with EASA Type Rating Examiner or SFE B737 300-900.

 The SFI refresher training is followed by the SFI Assessment of competence with EASA TRE or SFE B737 in the simulator representing the particular type of aeroplane..

Theory

The Synthetic Flight Instructor Refresher training needs to be tailored-made considering your previous experience. In most cases the ground school part of the TSFI Refresher consists of brush-up of your type-related as well as general technical training skills combined with delivering some theoretical knowledge lessons towards the type of aircraft you are qualified for as an instructor. This is usually done as briefing or de-briefing of ProfiPilot Training trainees. There is very simple objective behind. We want you to brush-up your instructor competences and to pass the assessment of competence. There might have been major changes in the regulatory background such as LDTA, instrument approach categorization, alternate aerodrome planning and so on. So we want to be sure you are delivering the training up to the current and highest industry standards.

We may however also come to the conclusion that is is sufficient to complete the refresher seminar to refresh your instructor competences.

Completion

After successful completion of the SFI refresher training ProfiPilot Training will issue the training Course completion certificate which describes the evaluation of your experience and the refresher training you have received, as well as a statement that the training was successfully completed. The document serves as the recommendation for the SFI AoC with EASA TREin the simulator representing the particular type of aircraft.
