BPL theory course overview

The Balloon Pilot License theoretical knowledge instruction course consists of approximately 80-100 hours of instruction. ProfiPilot Training utilizes both - the distance learning and the (virtual) classroom learning means of the instruction. It all depends on your preference. The BPL ground school covers aspects related to non-technical skills in an integrated manner, taking into account the particular risks associated with the BPL licence and the activity.

The BPL theoretical course is followed by the BPL written exam.

Theory

Applicants for a Balloon Pilot Licence shall demonstrate a level of theoretical knowledge that is appropriate to the privileges sought through examinations on the following:

The BPL ground school instruction covers following subjects

Common subjects:

• air law;
• human performance;
• meteorology;
• communications; and

Specific subjects concerning balloons:

• principles of flight;
• operational procedures;
• flight performance and planning;
• aircraft general knowledge related to balloons; and
• navigation.

Follow-up

Upon completion of your Balloon Pilot Licence theory, you need to complete your flying training. You can obviously complete those two trainings separately, however we will be delighted to provide you wht the complete BPL training.. Upon completion of your BPL theory in ProfiPilot Training, you can complete your flight training anywhere else.  In any case, the theoretical knowledge instruction shall always have been completed before the BPL skill test is taken.
