The Light Aircraft Pilot Licence theoretical course is the best way how to step into the aviation and commence your LAPL training. By attending the classes on your own convenience you will be given the theoretical instruction required for all LAPL pilots. You can choose whether you would like to attend online or you prefer the instructor-led sessions. Once completed, you will be signed-off for the written exam.

Overview

LAPL(H) theory course overview

The Light Aicraft Pilot License theoretical knowledge instruction course consists of approximately 100 hours of instruction. ProfiPilot Training utilizes both - the distance learning and the classroom learning means of the instruction. It all depends on your preference and availability. The LAPL(H) groundschool covers aspects related to non-technical skills in an integrated manner, taking into account the particular risks associated with the LAPL(H) licence and the activity.

The LAPL(H) theoretical course is followed by the LAPL(H) written exam in Exam Institute.

Prerequisites

There are no specific prerequisites to be enrolled into the LAPL(A) theory. You do not even need to be enrolled into the flight training. You only need to have a basic understanding of math and physics. The rest is on our lecturers.

Groundschool

The LAPL(H) ground school instruction covers following subjects

  • Air law,
  • Human performance,
  • Meteorology,
  • Communications,
  • Navigation,
  • Principles of flight - helicopters
  • Operational procedures - helicopters
  • Flight performance and planning - helicopters
  • Aircraft general knowledge - helicopters

Completion

Once you have completed the appropriate elements of theoretical knowledge instruction to a satisfactory standard, you will be recommended for the written LAPL(H) exam. The LAPL(H) theory course is completed by written theoretical knowledge exam in Exam Institute. You have to start your LAPL(H) written exam latest 12 months after being recommended by ProfiPilot Training.

The LAPL(H) written exam consists in  total of 120 multiple-choice questions covering all the subjects covered during the course. 

To pass the written exam, you have to achieve the score of at least 75 % of each subject. All subjects have to be passed within the period of 18 months counted from the end of the calendar month when you have first attempted an examination.

What's next

Upon completion of your LAPL(H) theory, you need to complete your flying training. You can obviously complete theoretical training separately from flight training. Upon completion of your LAPL(H) theory in ProfiPilot Training, you can complete your flight training anywhere else.  In any case, the theoretical knowledge instruction shall always have been completed before the LAPL(H) skill test is taken.

There is only one important date to remember. Theoretical knowledge exam certificate for the issue of a LAPL(H) is valid for a period of 24 months. It simply means you have to complete your LAPL(H) skill test latest 24 months after completion of your theoretical knowledge exam.
