Bombardier CL65 TRI Initial training

Become an instructor on CRJ ✔️

Being an aviation instructor is a very important role. Essentially important is a function of Type Rating Instructor providing initial type rating training. By completing this train-the-trainer course you will become one of a few members of the CRJ instructor club. By holding TRI CL65 you will be authorized to provide initial and renewal training towards the CL65 type rating. Besides that you will also get the privileges to teach towards the MCC(A) course. Holding a valid TRI allows you to extend your TRI privileges to any other aircraft type.

Overview

TRI CL65 Training overview

The TRI training program is carefully designed to develop safety awareness throughout by imparting knowledge, skills, and attitudes relevant to the TRI function on Bombardier CRJ Series. The course is carefully designed to provide you adequate theoretical-knowledge instruction, technical training and FSTD instruction to be able to instruct others towards CL65 type.

The CL65 TRI training course consists of three parts:

  • Part 1: 25 hours of Teaching and learning iaw AMC1 FCL.920;
  • Part 2: 10 hours of Technical theoretical knowledge instruction (Technical training);
  • Part 3: 10 hours of Flight instruction in CL65 simulator

The CL65 TRI training is followed by the TRI AoC with EASA CL65 TRE. The validity of the TRI CL65 is 3 years. To revalidate your TRI you need to comply with FCL.940.TRI.

Prerequisites

Before being enrolled into the CL65 Type Rating Instructor course, you have to meet following requirements:

  • be a holder of valid Medical Certificate Class 1
  • be a holder of an EASA CPL(A)MPL(A) or ATPL(A)
  • be a holder of valid CL65 type rating with differences training for the particular variant
  • completed 1 500 hours flight time as a pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes
  • completed 30 route sectors within the 12 months preceding the training

Teach & learn

The Teaching and Learning module of the TRI CL65 training is called as Part 1 or TRI training course and it is required by FCL.930.TRI(a)(1). This module is about the Training philosophy and Fundamentals of instruction. The module is equal for all EASA instructor certificates. It means if you hold or have held any EASA instructor certificate we will credit the teaching and learning module in full.  The module consists of 25 hours of groundschool and covers following topics:

  • The learning and teaching process
  • Techniques of applied instruction and programme development
  • Training philosophies and Student evaluation and testing
  • Human performance and limitations relevant to flight instruction

Briefings

The technical training comprises of 10 hours. It is a real on-job-training. Its purpose is to refresh Part 1 theoretical topics and CL65 variant-related technical knowledge. You gain an experience in preparation of lesson plans and you will develop of briefing-room instructional skills. The technical training is also integrated into the practical flight instruction lessons of Part 3 by using expanded preflight and postflight briefing sessions. 

The CL65 type rating theoretical syllabus is used to develop your teaching skills in relation to the CL65 type technical course syllabus.

Simulator

The initial CL65 TRI Training course consists of 10 hours. The content of the simulator training covers a variety of exercises, covering both normal and abnormal operations.  TEM, CRM, and the appropriate use of behavioural markers are integrated throughout the TRI course. The course covers the whole range of instructor skills, so you will be able to plan sessions, brief, train and debrief your future students using all relevant training techniques that are appropriate to pilot training towards CRJ Series.

Should you bring your friend for the TRI training we can also provide so-called parallel TRI instruction, so you will both be trained at the same time by our course instructor.
