Flight Instructor training

Train the trainer course ✓

Being an aviation instructor is a very important role. Compared to other instructor certificates such as CRI or IRI an FI(A) certificate allows gradual career progression by expanding your privileges. Initially you will be restricted to teach towards the EASA PPL(A) on SEP(land). Once you have completed at least 100 hours of flight instruction and 25 supervised solo flights, the privileges of the FI(A) become unrestricted.

Further career progression allows you to teach towards multi-engine aeroplanes, to provide instrument instruction or even to train the trainers at the latter stage. The FI(A) training is however a bit longer and more complex compared to the specific instructor certificates such as IRI or CRI.

Overview

FI(A) training overview

The aim of the Flight Instructor training course is to bring your competency up to the standard required for the role of a flight instructor.  The FI(A) training course is designed in the way to provide adequate training to the future FI(A) instructor in theoretical knowledge instruction and flight instruction to instruct for SEP(land) class rating for which you are qualified.

The Flight Instructor training course consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: 125 hours of Theoretical knowledge instruction including Teaching and learning iaw AMC1 FCL.920;
