For how long is an EASA type rating valid for?

Answer iconAnswer

All EASA type ratings are valid 12 months. In most cases the type-related instrument rating is having the same validity period like the type rating itself. To revalidate your type rating for next 12 months holder needs to attend the LPC with EASA TRE. Once the period of validity is lapsed holder needs to attend refresher training and renewal LPC with examiner.

To keep your EASA Type rating valid, you have to attend once in 12 months so-called licence proficiency check with Type Rating Examiner qualified for the type. Once your type rating is expired even for one day, the EASA ATO has to be involved into the renewal process.

You can revalidate your EASA Type rating 3 months before the expiry date to keep the current expiry date pattern. So to avoid any problems with the typerating validity, we strongly recommend you to revalidate your type rating as soon as possible within 90 days prior the expiry date.
