LAPL to PPL(A) training overview

The Private Pilot License training course for you as a LAPL(A) holder you have to complete 15 hours of flight time on aeroplanes after the issue of the LAPL(A). 5 hours out of 15 can be flown by yourself.

The training consists of10 hours of flight training.

The actual order and content will depend upon the following interrelated factors:

• your progress and ability;
• the weather conditions affecting the flight;
• the flight time available;
• instructional technique considerations;
• the local operating environment;
• applicability of the exercises to the aeroplane or TMG type.

The LAPL to PPL(A) training is followed by the PPL(A) Skill test with EASA Fllight Examiner.  

Flying

During the LAPL to PPL(A) flight training you will complete at least 10 hours of flight instruction in SEP Land. The flight training consists of:

• 6 hours of dual instruction
• 4 hours of supervised solo flight time
  • 2 hours of solo cross-country flight time with at least one cross-country flight of at least 270 km (150 NM), during which full stop landings at two aerodromes different from the aerodrome of departure shall be made.

Validity

The validity of the PPL(A) is unlimited. Your Private Pilot Licence stays valid as long as you keep valid your Medical certificate and SEP(land) class rating. So to keep current, you have to meet the revalidation criteria for SEP(land) which are similar to the LAPL revalidation as follows:

• to meet the flight experience on SEP(land) for revalidation by experience, or
• to pass license proficiency check with EASA Examiner

In addition, you have to visit an Aero-Medical Examiner to revalidate your medical certificate same like you have been used to while holding your LAPL(A).
